Day 1 :

Day 1 - ARRIVAL - PHUENTSHOLING

Meet & Greet on arrival at New Jalpaiguri Junction Railway Station / Bagdogra Airport and transfer to Phuentsholing (961 ft.) - The Gateway of Bhutan by Road from India. It is a thriving commercial center on the northern edge of the Indian Plains. On arrival check in at the hotel. Overnight stay at Phuentsholing.

Day 6 :

Day 2 - PHUENTSHOLING - THIMPHU

After breakfast complete the immigration formalities and transfer to Thimphu (7,710 ft.) the capital city of Bhutan. On arrival check in at the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay at Thimphu.Bhutan Travel Permits on arrival via land: If you are travelling with voter id card or without an advance permit, it is to be noted that the permits are issued only during working days and hours (Monday to Friday between 9 am to 4 pm during winter and 5 pm during summer). It is suggested that the travelers arriving in Phuentsholing on Friday should arrive latest by 10 AM in order to complete the entry formalities on the same day. No permits are issued on Saturday, Sunday and Bhutan government holidays. During the peak season (depending upon the rush), immigration may take long time to issue the permit. We shall not be responsible for any delay during processing of permit by the immigration authority.

Day 2 :

Day 3 - THIMPHU SIGHTSEEING

After breakfast visit Kuensel Phodrang (Buddha Statue) a place for refreshing with a huge statue of Buddha on the top of the Kuensel Phodrang, National Memorial Chorten (Monument) & Folk Heritage Museum. Afternoon visit Sangaygang View Point, Changangkha Monastery and Takin Preserve Centre, the national animal of Bhutan can be seen here. Later visit Tashichho Dzong (Fortress of the Glorious Religion). Overnight stay at Thimphu.

Day 3 :

Day 4 - THIMPHU - PARO

After breakfast transfer to Paro(7483 ft.). On the way visit the Tachog Lhakhang – It is situated between Thimphu and Paro and it was built in the 13th century by Thangtong Gyalpo. He is also known as the Iron bridge builder. Situated on a hilltop, we have to cross an ancient style bridge to reach the temple. On arrival in Paro, check in at the hotel. Afternoon visit Ta Dzong - National Museum with an excellent collection of arts, relics, religious thangkha, etc. Rinpung Dzong - Meaning "fortress of the heap of jewels". The dzong now serves as the administrative and judicial seat of Paro. Overnight stay at Paro.

Day 4 :

Day 5 - PARO SIGHTSEEING

After breakfast hike to the famous Taktsang Monastery - called “Tiger’s Nest” (2hrs hike from the base camp). Later visit DrukgyelDzong & Kyichu Monastery. Overnight stay at Paro.

Day 5 :

Day 6 - PARO - PHUENTSHOLING

After breakfast check out from hotel and transfer to Phuentsholing. On arrival check in at the hotel. Overnight stay at Phuentsholing.

Day 7 :

Day 7 - PHUENTSHOLING - DEPARTURE

After breakfast check out from the hotel and take the departure transfer to New Jalpaiguri Junction Railway Station / Bagdogra Airport for your onward journey.

1) What is the best time to visit Bhutan?

The best time to visit Bhutan is during the months of March to May and then September to November. During these months, weather is pleasant and several festivals are celebrated in Bhutan that add to the vacation delight. However, tourists can also visit this Himalayan country apart from these months and save money as well as escape tourist crowd.

2) Do I need a visa to visit Bhutan?

No, Indian citizens do not need a visa to visit Bhutan. But you need an ‘Entry Permit’ that gives you access to Paro and Thimphu and is issued by the Bhutanese Immigration Office’s outpost at the border crossings. To go beyond these two cities, you need a ‘Special Area Permit’ from the immigration office in Thimphu. Do carry a photo id and a photocopy of your passport along with two latest photos.

3) How many days can Indians stay in Bhutan?

The ‘Entry Permit’ obtained at the border is valid for 7 days. If you wish to extend your stay beyond 7 days, you must get it extended at the immigration office in Thimphu.

4) What is the currency of Bhutan?

Ngultrum (Nu, BTN) is the official currency of Bhutan. 1 Ngultrum is equal to 1 Indian Rupee.

. Visitors can’t purchase Ngultrum before arriving in Bhutan. So they should exchange their currency once they are in Bhutan. US dollars, Euros, and sterling can be easily changed for Ngultrum at local banks. The credit and debit cards are rarely accepted at the shops, hotels, and restaurants.

5) Is it safe to drink tap water in Bhutan?

No, tap water is not considered safe to drink in Bhutan. Therefore, drinking bottled mineral water is strongly suggested to steer clear of any local infections.

6) Can I use Indian rupees in Bhutan?

Small denomination Indian currency, below 500 INR, is also accepted as legal tender in Bhutan. It is recommended to use the local currency, Ngultrum, for any transactions above BTN 500.
